The Skills Exchange has been especially nice for me, being an American ex-pat and new to the community. It has given me so many wonderful contacts in the area.
When it comes to earning gems, we love to watch people's pets for them at our house!
We had to leave our beloved pets back in the U.S. so it is always nice to have a dog or cat around for a week or two. We also watch rats, gerbils, hamsters, mice, ferrets...you name it, we can watch it. I only draw the line at snakes that must be fed live food...I just can't do that!
I can also take care of chickens or other farm animals, as I grew up on a farm in rural Indiana.
I don't, however, LOVE to garden. Due to a chronic pain condition, gardening is very hard for me. So, I like to spend my gems by asking people to help with my front and back garden. I think I'd also like to take a few others up on their skills as well, but as we have family coming in this week, that will have to wait for another time!
Thank you, Skills Exchangers, for making my life a little easier in a new country!
XX Julie M.
