"The Skills Exchange came into its own this week, when I was planning a few days with my Mum down in Salisbury. The plan was to help her buy and set up a new digital TV and DVD recorder, which we did. The problem was disposing of the old one - old TVs are pretty heavy, and my Mum has a first floor flat, not next to the car park. So I put a request to the Skills Exchange list, and had 4 offers of suitable trolleys! Which meant we could easily wheel it down to the car. I ended up bringing all the old stuff back to Nottingham (TV, video recorder, digi box, etc) and disposed of it via Free/Realcycle. My Mum was thrilled, as she is of the generation who hate to throw away anything that still works! So thanks to Jen for the loan of the trolley.

Today, Dianne and her husband came round to raid our garden! We had spoken in the summer about plants to brighten up her garden in August, and they came round then to see what was in flower, and put their request in. We waited till now, as a good time to split and move plants, and today they went away with a selection of agapanthus, globe thistles, crocosmia, etc. Hopefully they'll take root OK. And I have an extra gem."

Best wishes,
Carol
