Dulip had an AMAZING take-away Turkish food - very tasty- he had the vegetarian option and it was LOVELY...
Many, many thanks to Mary's husband, Halit ( he is a Chef so it's not surprising it was DELICIOUS).
I would recommend that you all try it for one gem and cost of ingredients (£3 vege, £4 meat),
Love,
Sal and Dulip x

Thursday
just wanted to say thanks again for the lovely dinner yesterday. We thoroughly enjoyed it - great food, good company and no washing-up!!! Andy and Monika
If you are too busy or tired and/or don't feel up to preparing a meal, rather then getting an unhealthy take way, come to Musters Road for a 3 course cooked meal prepared with love and with ingredients, presently still mostly from Karina's allotment. Don't miss the home made raspberry cordial whilst stocks last! . It is delicious.
Thanks again Karina for the nice treat.
Many thanks.

Tuesday
Come dine with me.
On Wednesday 13th and Thursday 14th October there will be a 'Come dine with me' event at 6.30pm at Karina's.
If you don't feel like cooking or doing the washing up but would like to have a two course home made vegetarian meal for a gem per person, why not join her. (don't forget to let her know that you are coming)
This is not a dinner party; The meal is ready at 6.30pm and you may or may not be sharing this meal with others. The table can seat 6 people so that is the maximum she will be cooking for.
As the family is T-total no alcohol will be served but if you would like to bring your own bottle you are welcome to do so. Alternatively there will be home made cordial, juice or water with the meal. Once the meal is finished and you had a chat with the others, it is time to go home again and continue to relax!
The vegetables are from her biodynamic garden just around the corner so food miles are VERY low
If you feel like setting up your Come dine with me event please do so as this could be a way to earn back your gems and give other people some time off cooking, washing up and having a quick catch up with local group members.
Sunday
There are so many of us who have an allotment on Kingston Road, if you would like to show the others around your allotment an inspire them on what you are doing, sharing ideas etc that would be lovely too.
I was thinking of meeting at 2pm at the allotment gates. Let me know if you are interested and if you can make it for an hour or so.

Tuesday

For a few weeks I received a weekly basket of fresh organic vegetables from Karina. They were very tasty and I made many lovely dishes with them.
I would like to share an Ecuadorian recipe with you.
Corn like your gave me last time
a onion choped, breast of chicken (or a vegetarian alternative) patata, a small piece of garlic.
boil for 20 minutes, at the end add coriander.
It was delicious!

Saturday

When I arrived at the allotments this week I was faced with a total disaster...
Hundreds of my tomato plants were starting to show signs of blight. The weather has been perfect for it and once again this year after many hours of sowing, potting up, transplanting and caring for my tomatoes they did not manage to get close to being ripe.
I spent the day pulling up 2 wheelie bins of them, picking up the fruits for those in the group who like green tomato chutney... Thank goodness there were many of you so all the hard work had not all been in vain! I hope you will enjoy the chutney well into the winter months to remind you of glorious summer days full of Gem swapping activity!
After that day I was shattered but the bread still needed to be made. This is where Joe our local baker came in. He very kindly made me two perfect loaves and in exchange he had a crate of his favourite green tomatoes.... Thanks Joe for taking the pressure off and the bread was delicious, well worth for others to know.
