Tuesday

My Apple Crumblies went down very well!

Today, I expected some visitors but only had an hour before I realized that I did not have anything nice to go with a cuppa.

I whipped out Monique's recipe for Apple Crumblies. Got into the apple store to get some apples, and started the cooking. One hour later, with a lovely sweet smell of apple pie, I was able to welcome my guests.

Later on that day, I visited Barbara for a brilliant ear candling and face massage. As I made a large Apple Pie earlier, I cut some for Barbara and her husband too. They loved it so much that they wanted the recipe!

I am happy to bake you the Apple Crumblies pie for a Gem + cost of ingredients, but if you prefer to make it yourselves here goes:

Ingredients:
6 oz margarine
6 oz self raising flour
6 oz semolina
3 oz sugar

Filling:
1 lb of apples
4 oz sugar
2 oz sultanas
1/2 level tablespoon of cinnamon
Use 7 1/2 inch sandwich tin
Cook on gas mark 200C

Instructions:

Put the apples and sugar in a pan; cover and cook until breaking up; add sultanas and cinnamon. Boil for 3 minutes, or until thick.
Melt the margarine; stir in flour, semolina and sugar; spoon half the mixture into the tin and press down evenly. Spread over semolina mixture leaving 1" edge; crumble rest of mixture over the top. Bake for 30 mins until golden brown. Leave 10 mins.
Can be served warm with cream.
Bon appetit!
